Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

I am going to try and visit a few cons this year and.. hopefully more in the future! I have already visited TCAF.. and next on the agenda are:

Otakon (July 27-29th, Baltimore)
Otakuthon (August 3-5th, Montreal)
Yaoi-Con (Oct 12-14th, LA)

I have had a few notices of people selling Starfighter merchandise (at cons and here on DA) and I thought I should address this issue to avoid any confusion: it is not okay to sell any mass produced Starfighter related merchandise for profit, such as prints, t-shirts, hoodies, etc.. if someone commissions you for a unique Starfighter drawing, that's fine, but making a bunch of Starfighter buttons is not.
